Showing up, whether in the real or on a screen, is a key to success. Research shows that showing up is 80% of the equation. How will you show up today?

|Prepare for Monday, on a Friday| By Friday, your |Prepare for Monday, on a Friday| By Friday, your desk is covered with notes, files, and a sundry of things too important to discard yet not important enough to keep longterm. It's tempting to slack off on Friday (especially Friday afternoon). Instead resist the urge and use the day to finish the week strong and set yourself up for next week.
--
Here are 3 ways to lay the foundation for a productive and prosperous Monday (and we all know that Monday sets up the week's success).
1️⃣ Clear as many pending items as possible. These items tend to compound if not handled in a timely fashion. Document files, delegate appropriate tasks, and close out as many items as possible. 2️⃣ Make calls to clients and prospects to set appointments for next week. It's more efficient to fill your calendar on Friday rather than waiting until Monday. Use this time to call top tier clients to touch base and bid them a good weekend. It is also a good day to call past clients or centers of influence to sow goodwill. 3️⃣ Look in your business. In other words, examine from the inside. Was there a situation you could have handled more efficiently? Did you move the needle closer to the goal? If not, what adjustments can be made? Be specific about your success plan.
--
Finishing up the week on a high note not only sets you up for success next week but adds to your weekend rejuvenation.

Make a point to start a little earlier each day until you work in an extra 30 minutes to an hour. You'll be amazed at how much you can get done in the quiet of the day. Works for me and I think it will for you, too.

1) Think big picture. Then break it down into small goals. Then work every day toward those goals.

2) Learn something new. You'll be surprised how a little new knowledge will spur creativity.

3) Build a team. Develop strong advocates you can depend on when the going gets tough.

|No matter your age| In my constant stage of 29-ne |No matter your age| In my constant stage of 29-ness, today I am reminded age truly is just a number. It's an ongoing joke with family and friends, "so Deb when are you going to roll up to the big 30? You know you've been 29 a very looooong time!"
--
Seriously though, age is defined by mind over biological age. Yesterday, an 85-year-old client asked me, "do you know how to Zoom?" I wanted to scream in laughter. "Yes, I do" was my reply. She said "good, let's meet up."
--
So today, I will be "meeting up" with a client via @zoom where we will cover all the things important to her.

The moral of this story: do not discount the capabilities of the older generation. Don't assume they're "too old" for new things. They represent a vital part of society. And as the saying goes "I know a thing or two because I've seen a thing in two" should resonate in each of our lives. Let's learn from their experience. One day I may roll up on and be a part of the older generation. 😁
|Where you are now will lead you somewhere| Whethe |Where you are now will lead you somewhere| Whether you are in a great spot or one you can't wait to move on from, remember it will propel you to somewhere. The question is "where?" Take a minute and ask yourself "how can I use my current situation to move forward toward the next goal?"
|Happy birthday to me| Today, I will celebrate. |Happy birthday to me| Today, I will celebrate.
|10 days ago| my daddy left this world. Today woul |10 days ago| my daddy left this world. Today would have been his 88th birthday. It's been a tough couple weeks. I've been off social media during this time and thought it fitting to return with a past blog article, "What's a daddy good for?"
--
My daddy was SUPERMAN - he had all the answers about everything; he was the strongest man in the world; he could fix anything (including broken hearts); he was the smartest man in the world; and he could beat up your dad. This little girl believed all this and more.
--
As I reflect, childhood memories come flooding back. My mind is filled with times of hanging out with my daddy and how much it meant to me to tag along. Whether he was teaching me how to ride a motor scooter, properly wash a car, paint a room, play piano and guitar, count the church offering, sing harmony, or about God, the time spent with him will forever be in my heart.
--
My daddy was a lot of fun. He would let me do things when mama wasn't home that led to interesting conversation when she returned, such as allowing me to.play in her makeup (somehow my red lips didn't turn out like hers- i looked more like Bozo the Clown's sister) or letting me pick out the new paint color for the kitchen (sunshine yellow, in case you're wondering), and independently make dinner (to include homemade biscuits that turned out hard as a rock). Mama usually didn't get mad. I could get away with a lot of things by using the phrase "daddy said I could".
--
So, back to the question: "what's a daddy good for?" (Look back at the picture for full effect.) 1) LOVE. Daddies are admirers and a girl's first love. 2) PATIENCE. Daddies teach that sometimes you have to do things you don't want to - like have your picture taken because mama wants a picture taken. 3) JOY. Daddies teach that music can add to life. 4) FAITHFULNESS. Daddies teach about God and how attending church is an important part of spiritual growth.
--
It is no coincidence these things happen to be the fruit of the spirit. Love, joy, patience and faithfulness - along with peace, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self control (Gal 5:22).
--
Here's to my daddy ... who will be in my heart forever. ❤
